Night School English Language Centre underwent a 3 day Mafia Boot Camp in Auckland, New Zealand.
Night School is a Private Training Establishment specializing in second language learning. The client base consists of migrants, international students and working holiday makers. The industry is highly competitive both locally and internationally; a competitive advantage is essential.

We finished off our fiscal year end 10/31….. could have never turned things around w/out the V V S.!!!!!! We finished the year in the black because ‘the board’ helped us focus on FINISHING! Now those are fast results! On day one there is a slight uptick, but on day 2 they have a huge jump in performance.

I wanted to thank you and Brad on behalf of the team here at Model Graphics that participated in your on line Velocity Scheduling System training and coaching over the last several weeks. You truly are the Doctor !
As reported early on, we showed three categorical improvements. Cash flow trend, On Time Delivery and Reduced Inventory. These results assisted us in creating a sales strategy that would allow clients to take advantage of our improved delivery.
We were able to focus on areas we had not spent much time on before. Excess capacity; we had plenty and had not been utilizing it. Constraint management; we discovered that a single press was our major area of subordination. We began moving work from that press to areas that had excess capacity and it works. Overtime has been reduced on that press by 75% while maintain and OTD of 95% through this period.
Press operators, who are typically higher paid coworkers than rewind inspection operators were finding themselves running rewinder/inspector machines while leaving the print press sitting idle. This is unheard of in our industry. Our Work In Process and Finished Goods have been reduced and therefore the improved cash flow trend.
Our work is not done. We intend to make the non value added process of press set ups invisible. This is a direct result of understanding the value of subordinating and elevating the constraint.
We now look at “Throughput per Hour” in dollar terms when we assess job history and will soon be using an estimating system that also calculates Throughput per hour targets.
Even though several of us had read “The Goal”, we all agree that this was totally different and frankly uncomfortable for us to deal with at first that we would have never been as successful as we have been with your help ! I strongly recommend anyone considering improvements in OTD, Inventory reduction, cash flow improvements or simply a better, faster way to evaluate existing business or price new business they give you an opportunity to help them. Before starting the Velocity Scheduling System our on time delivery was about 68 percent. After implementation of the system we’re currently running at 100 percent o.t.d.. The velocity board has been a great tool that provides visibility not only to myself but everyone in the shop. Notes and typical results for the Velocity Scheduling System:
Ricky’s results are NOT typical because his company is larger (>$10mm sales) than the typical company that goes through this program. The average size company that goes through the Velocity Scheduling System is about $3mm in sales. Typical results for the Velocity Scheduling System include: 1. substancial improvement in due date performance; 2. substancial reduction in lead-time; and 3) improved communication and reduced chaos. How substancial depends on where you start, but typical results are to achieve over 95% due date performance, time through the shop cuts in half, and of course there is no measurment for chaos but participants have reported improvement in communication and a reduction in chaos. None of people who provided testimonials were compensated for doing so.
Notes and typical results for the Mafia Offer Boot Camp:
Typical results include 1. Creating a Mafia Offer; 2. Creating the collerateral for the offer; and 3. Creating an action list following the boot camp. Implementation results vary wildly. About 30% of the companies that go through a Mafia Offer Boot Camp end up doing nothing with it. Even though they have successfully created a Mafia Offer.
